The Girl and Her Tail

A post to just showcase some of the artworks behind the short film "The Girl and Her Tail."

Stills from the short film, redrawn and painted in watercolour.
These watercoloured stills were a series of colour tests I did as I really would've loved a coloured film. But it proved too much work for a project that only allowed a short period of production time.
In the end colours were not added in.

Initial sketches of the Girl in the short film.

A photo-composite of a Huldra in the woods I did for anatomy and also colour and environment study.

Little Lizzy and a piece of poem

I found this piece of poem while surfing the net one day.

It was made of a real murder incident back in 1892. It was a beautiful story. A tragic story but beautiful nonetheless. I thought it would be beautiful if I can tell a tale, perhaps on the side of the murderer. If only I can justify everything, then maybe people will see this tragedy as beautiful too.

Love Story

Love is a funny little thing.

Often people ask about what is love. Is it catastrophic? Like... a sledgehammer?
To me, it isn't anything like that. It is more like a habit. Say you hang out with a person for long enough, there's a mutual attraction. Yea that kinda thing.

Love is something that grows by the days and pulls you in. Until finally, both goes "poof" and you don't exist anymore.

A short pixilation film on Love.

Studies

A short simple post on the studies of children and old women.

Originally intended them for an animation of a friend's story. But the project was criticized and abandoned in the infant stage. I feel sorry for these dead babies.

Waking up to reality. Or not?

Working on traditional animation is very therapeutic, albeit it's insane and rather time-consuming workload. A few friends, together with me, came up with this Nursery Rhyme Hell idea and decided to work on it for an assignment. And little did we expect it to be this hellish for us too.

Done in only pencil lines and a compilation software, Wake! is an animation that made a great impact in my life and paved my passion for working on traditional medium for animation. It is the first time I've woken to the fact that although beautiful and magical, traditional animation is a dying art and it isn't exactly easy to accomplish either. It also woke the love in me, for traditional mediums and ways of animation.

It is indeed a waking-up-to-reality project for me.

How to...?

I was given a theme and a few restrictions to work around on.

"How to ___________." Do it in a maximum of 4 pages. It is like an instruction manual where people can follow and understand. No words to be used.

So... I  did it.

"How To Pop A Cherry"
